Marijuana – Catch 22

Getting on the Bus Part 2: ‘Being Proactive Instead Of Reactive’

This book explores the subject of marijuana and prompts us to consider the conversations we can have with our children about alcohol and drugs. This highlights the need for mandating a
curriculum in schools that focuses on educating students about drugs and alcohol.

Children are tragically losing their lives every day. Schools and parents must educate them about drugs and alcohol before they encounter these topics on the streets. This book emphasizes the necessity of integrating and mandating drug education into school curriculums.

Lifestyle in the Middle East
Climate
Throughout the Middle East, the climate is generally hot and dry, but the winter months are cooler with a little rainfall.  As a result of the intense heat, air conditioning is a standard feature in nearly every building, school, apartment, and vehicle across the region.
Beaches and water
The Middle East has fabulous beaches, and water related sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, sailing, jet skiing and waterskiing abound. Many teachers join expatriate beach clubs that are associated with hotels, which gives them access to beaches, restaurants and lots of social activities. Various regions feature beautiful coral reefs. Whether it’s lounging on sun-kissed shores, engaging in thrilling water sports, or enjoying lively beach parties, the Middle East’s coastal offerings provide a rich blend of leisure and adventure for both locals and visitors alike.
Shopping and dining
You will find restaurants and shops to suit almost any taste. Shopping at the many souks (open air markets) in the region is a cultural delight. You will get to browse and haggle to your heart’s content before relaxing with a cup of delicious Arabic coffee and dates at a local cafe.
Bars and pubs
Alcohol consumption is regulated across the Middle East, and while policies vary from country to country, public drunkenness is generally not tolerated, with stringent penalties for drinking and driving. In the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman, it’s possible to find pubs and restaurants that serve alcohol. However, Saudi Arabia have strict prohibitions against the sale and consumption of alcohol. Many teachers view this restriction as a healthier lifestyle choice and often reserve their pub outings for weekends spent in more lenient destinations.
